Why do so many of us girls hate having naturally wavy/curly hair?

I've noticed in my school all the girls straighten the crap outa their hair and when I ask if their hair is naturally like that they say no i have wavy/curly hair and it's disgusting. I have to admit I like when my hair is pin straight too but sooo many people think It looks better curly. So does it mean straight hair is more attractive and girls feel the pressure to straighten it or is it just the style?

I have no clue, i have the same with a friend i would love to have her hair when she puts the product in when curly its soo hard to get that look really and they hate that they have it naturallly. Odd.

They probably just dont like their curly hair and probably like the looks of strait hair and like the looks on them of strait hair.

Same reason that girls with straight hair hate it and spend time on curlers and curling irons and perms.

When I curl my hair to get it in my fave wavy style, the girls at school are like YUK..I can't understand it cuz the guys seem to like it curly, at least the ones I know. ^^ Everybody has a straightener these days. I'm the only one who doesn't. Honestly I think a straightener is bad for your hair...when I used to blowdry mine it actually started changing color!!

I think generally people want what they don't have. I have stick straight hair and I would KILL to have waves or curls but my friend who has SUPER curly hair spends almost an hour everyday straightening her hair...

well its kind of annoying when you wake up in the morning and your hair is like a lion's mane. unlike people with naturally straight hair who wake up and its perfect, people with curly hair have hair thats spastic and has a mind of its own. however despite this set back i like having curly hair because u can do so much more with it, like straighten it, while people with straight hair have a hard time achieving a naturally curly look.

i feel the same way but sometimes i wear my hair curly and straight when u straightin ur hair everyday it can make ur hair un healthy and it can burn it so ur hair will be dry...but i think its just the style....i bet u look pretty both ways!

It's not that we 'hate' it, it's just high maintenance. Believe me, when I was back in middle/high school... I DESPISED my hair. Now that I'm 27 (a grown adult), you learn to appreciate your natural given beauty. Yes it can be a pain in the rear most days, but you just have to know how to 'control' it. Once you do, you learn to love your hair. Hope that helps?

Its just the way the female mind thinks... We have straight hair and we want it wavy,. we have wavy hair and we want it straight... just face it... us women will never be completly satisfied with ourselves :P

i have the curliest hair on earth! lol mine is frizzy and it is very curly.i dont like it because it is always a pain to comb it and you cant do many hairstyles either. even if you straighten my hair after 2 hours it will be back to its curly state again.thereare permanent straightening too. i think all the girls just think with straight hair it looks better so they beg there parents and get it straightened

Insecurity.

When we're in our teenage years, we're constantly scrutinizing ourselves. We think we're too tall or too short or too fat or too skinny or too quiet or too loud or too curly or too straight.

Girls are looking for their identity and part of that search is to change the outside appearance. If you knew how many hair transformations I've been through, you'd laugh your *** off. I've permed, chemically straightened, dyed until my hair was irreversibly friend, and I've always wanted long hair but I end up cutting it off before it gets there.

It's just insecurity.
