I have long naturally curly hair thats is thick and coarse. I am having a hard time dealing with the frizz and severe tangles. I USE SO much product in my hair and nothing seems to be right. I don't know the kind of shampoo, conditioner, styling products - down to what kind of comb or brush to use to make my hair be soft, shinny, lose the severe tangles and frizz. It is getting to the point I just want to shave my head. Any advice?

Here's what I've learned.
Don't shampoo everyday. It will dry your hair out. I shampoo everyother day and rinse it on non-shampoo days. But do use a conditioner EVERY day. One thing that I have found that works great is the conditioner that comes with hair dye. Garnier Fructis has a 3 min. conditioning treatment that works just as well. Comb the conditioner through your hair with a wide tooth comb so it soaks in.
As for styling products...I loved this TGI curl cream that my stylist uses. My hair was so soft and manageable and it had a little hold too. But being a recent college grad with no money, I couldn't afford it. A few cheaper things I found that work well are Aussie Leave in Conditioner/mousse combo. One foam...2 purposes. If your hair is really dry, Garnier makes a leave-in conditioner specifically for curly hair. You can use it as well with the aussie stuff.

How to deal with this naturally curly hair? my hair is actually kind of the same what i do is use john frieda curl around shampoo and conditioner which you can get at walmart, after i use that i towel dry and the use the john frieda dream curls spray its not a hairspray its more like a levae in conditioner that helps define curls after that i comb throught with a wide tooth comb using a small one or brush pulls hair out, after your hair dries if you want to shine it up john frieda also has a shine shock serum.

If you try straightning with a straightner, it will just make your hair look UGLY, UNNATURAL, and UGLY!!! Go to a salon and see a professional. How to deal with this naturally curly hair? Too much product isnt good either..there are a few good products especially for curly hair now, ...shampoo and conditioner and maybe a same product line hair serum to help with blow drying.
A good round brush for blowdrying will help...and dry it in smaller sections starting at the bottom , working your way up..smaller sections make it easier to straighten ..the better u get , the bigger and faster u can straighten it.
You can also consult a good salon about a relaxing perm..it's not the best thing to do but if u are having a hard time with it , it could be an option.
A good straight iron can really help also..but I suggest u get one that is like a brush so u can pull it through your hair rather then a flat iron..
Any good hairdresser can give u suggestions. I did hair for years and I have suffered having very curly hair all my life. I learned how to tame it by practice..I hardly use any products on my hair after it's washed..because I like it to feel clean. but many do because it helps them. I have recently cut alot off to do something totally different and blonde..but I have always had long hair. I hope I was able to help abit.

As for shampoo the best is a very moisturizing kind (I prefer Matrix Sleek Look or Joico Moisture Recovery products) As for styling products you should use a cream styler that does not have much hold. It is designed to help control the frizz without making it heavy or greasy. Sometimes you have to try different products to see which work better for you. You should use professional products because they are usually guaranteed to work or they will usually give your money back or let you exchange it.
